Love is Displeased with Evil

Scripture Reading - 1 Corinthians 13:6 Good News Bible (GNB)

Love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth.

We are studying Thee Person of Love which is God Himself. We are learning that certain attributes of God need to be present in His Children so that we can accurately represent Jesus Christ the Blessed Son of God. We have also learned that certain negative behaviors are not a part of God’s Nature nor are they a part of God’s Plan for man. In a previous lesson we spoke of God not being “ill-mannered” or “acting inappropriately” and another thing we talked about is God not being “Selfish”. We also taught on God not being “easily provoked” to anger and/or an unwise response. We learned from a previous lesson that God doesn’t think evil so neither should we. In today’s lesson we will speak on “God being displeased with evil”. In the scripture above the words “Love is not happy with evil” is a more modern wording that many people can relate to because it is understood in the language of today. However we will take a more in-depth look at this verse by referring to the King James Version (KJV). In the KJV the scripture reads “Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth. The reason this statement is true and a little more descriptive is because the word “iniquity” means extreme injustice or wickedness or evil actions and things. This definition brings to light that “iniquity” is more than just doing wrong things as an act of sin but “iniquity” comes right from the pit of hell. This is why we have heard the term, “The iniquities of the fathers have passed down to the children.” This presents two large problems, the first being it is spiritual so changing some actions without changing the heart is unprofitable. The second problem is that “iniquity” can be passed down to the next generation (the younger children) because the judgment of sin doesn’t happen immediately. Remember Lamentations 5:7 KJV which states, “Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities.” Since “iniquity” is considered sin both inwardly and outwardly we can conclude that “iniquity” is bad for all people and all nations. Therefore since “iniquity” is bad and God is good we can see the contrast of good versus evil. This is why “God has no pleasure at all in iniquity”. The Lord Jesus is a good God of love so He only desires good for His Children knowing that it is His Will to have all people saved and to come into the full knowledge of truth. Yes, there is good news for those who may have had unrighteous parents and the good news is Jesus Christ. Why, is He good news about my parent’s “iniquity” (because my parents don’t even believe in Jesus)? We (ihlcc) will explain; the reason that Jesus Christ is such good news about “iniquity” is because The Blood of Jesus Christ has already washed away all sin (iniquity). So even if your parents made prior negative decisions that are present in your life today you can choose to believe in the Precious Blood of Jesus that cleansed you from all “iniquity” (sin). This is really great news because your parents could be killers, pimps, drug dealers, a harlot (prostitute), thieves or any bad thing but when you give your life to Jesus you become a brand new creature in Christ so that the curse of pass “iniquities” is broken in the Name of Jesus and through the Blood of Jesus so you can separate yourself from the judgment of past sins. We all know of times when we without any negative influence from our parents have had a bad reputation from our prior “iniquities” but thanks be to God who all causes us to triumphant over our present day challenges and tribulations. Yes, sin is a real problem that must be dealt with through knowledge, understanding, strength and the wisdom of God. Of course all these godly attributes you can find in the Holy Bible. Now we can better understand why “God has no pleasure at all with evil (iniquity)” because it will keep you separated from God according to Isaiah 59:1-2 KJV which reads “Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” This basically means all “iniquities (evil, wickedness, and sins)” must be judged by the believer to keep their heart right with God. So we (ihlcc) must say that no Christian should be OK with the sins before us in this present wicked world. We are seeing sweeping changes endorsing wickedness (iniquity) here in America and in nations abroad but we should not be moved from our stand for righteousness (God). Of course some of the things we see are evil, yes they are full of “iniquity”, so why would God or the child of God rejoice over these perverted laws or popular opinions. No in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ we should never be happy for items that are clearly identified in God’s Word as sins because if you do you are probably passing those “iniquities” onto your children and let’s face it our beloved children have enough to deal with without your “iniquities” coming upon them to haunt them and possibly hurt them through separation from God. Dear faith friend please don’t be passive in judging the sinful ways of the world but rather take great pleasure in the displeasure you have with the practice of “iniquity” being displayed in this earth. Remember, Jesus Christ died on the cross to remove the “iniquity” of our heritage and the current “iniquity” (wickedness, evil, sin) that personally traps us today. So take full advantage of His (Jesus Christ) Blood to cleanse you from all “iniquities (sins)” and to make you a champion of truth and righteousness. Let us ask you a question, if God’s very own beloved children refuse to judge sin (iniquity) than who will? The correct answer is, “No one” because the world system delights in “iniquity (sin)” and that is our point God who is Love does not. Amen!
